The ending is insane!

Kya is found not guilty despite the efforts of the town to frame her, which is good because if she had died that would be a sad end of the book. As she’s sitting in her Jail cell waiting to hear if she will be put to death, she starts thinking about the marsh and Tate and jumpin and how much they have helped her out in the past years.

When she gets out of jail, she finds out that jumpin’DIED. Jumpin was like a father to her, but she didn’t go to his funeral for some reason, maybe because she didn’t want to face prosecution and assumptions

from the townspeople that maybe Kya killed Jumpin’ too and she was just on a murder spree. But seriously, I hate that he died. He was my favorite character in the whole book. And then, Tate’s dad dies. Everyone is dying and I don’t know why. Could it be to symbolize something deeper in the book? Kind of like maybe how everything comes to an end sometimes. Or maybe Jumpin symbolized a father figure or kind of a guardian angel for her. And when she didn’t need him anymore he went away. I mean he was always there to guide her and help her with everything, especially since her father left her.

IT GETS EVEN CRAZIER. Kya dies at the age of 64 on her boat and then the whole town shows up for her funeral which is confusing because I thought they hated her. Maybe they went to celebrate her death rather than mourn it, or maybe they have had a change of heart and decided that they love Kya now. Or maybe it’s just one of those things that no one appreciates until they are gone.

This book was okay, I hated it at first but it grew on me a little bit.

This part was kind of confusing. The time changes are hard to follow. So basically, In the first few chapters, Kya is talking to her editor about meeting in Greenville. She decided to do it, and it went pretty well. He thinks he could get her a better deal on the book.

Meanwhile, the trial is still going on for the murder of Chase Andrews. It was determined that he was murdered by being pushed off a water tower and hit the back of his head on a post. I was a little bit confused because at first, I thought the red hat was Chase’s hat? but then it says later that it is kyas hat and that the fibers of her hat were found on Chase’s sweater. But then, Kya’s lawyer says she is getting a good deal. She would only get about 7 years in prison if she took the plea for 2nd-degree murder. However, Kya won’t take it. She knows she didn’t murder him and she won’t admit to something she didn’t do.

First, they called Kya to the witness stand. At first, she was super nervous but came down when she saw jumpin’ she calmed down. Then, they called a coroner to the stand who first said that there was no evidence Kya was there when she died, and then he said that Chase Andrews was pushed off the fire tower. So, I’m a little confused about who the coroner was testifying against because he said something to help both of them. Then a sheriff came to the stand and said that someone had to be there to push him and then cover up their tracks. Then, two bus drivers take the stand and I don’t even understand this because he said that a tall lanky man

could have been kya in disguise or an older woman with curly gray hair. Which, seeing as shes a marsh girl, it doesn’t make much sense to me that she would be able to disguise herself so well that no one in a small town could recognize her.

Kyas’s book is getting published and she received a hefty amount of money from it. When she heard the marsh was being drained, Kya took action and bought 310 acres of swamp and marsh to save it from the developer. Chase once offered to provide for her before his death, and now she can provide it for herself.

Jodie’s arrival has led to the healing of some of her past traumas with abandonment, her mother leaving, and her friends dying. finally able to see her mother as a person again. With him, he brought information about the mother’s disappearance. It didn’t make her feel better though, she just felt a little bit more secure in her own little world.

Kya also has an iffy relationship with all men. They all share the same characteristics of cowards and violent abusers. She thinks the men will change, but they change her.

A red hat Chase Andrews was wearing shows up in Kya’s place. This leads to even more suspicion towards her. Most people are convinced she did it.

Chase Andrews’s trial begins and Kya proves hopeless. Without any social interaction as a kid, she is unable to properly conduct herself in court and is not able to defend herself.

this section focuses on the relationship between Chase Andrews and Kya. When Chase was still alive, he and his friends would go down the beach that Kya watched them on, kya made him a necklace because he was always so nice to her, which made it a shock when people thought she had killed him. I guess they thought she was creepy and was going to kill him because she always watched him, which was fair.

I think Chase Andrews is interested in having a more than friendly relationship with Kya, and Kya hesitates. Her family had left her so why wouldn’t he? She was scared that we would leave. The book goes back in time to when Chase was alive. Chase actually seems interested in Kya which is weird because she’s lowkey stalking him. But hey, Stockholm syndrome I guess. Get it, girl. But she’s actually really weird so I understand why no one likes her, but at the same time we have to give her some leighway because she’s a marsh girl with almost no human contact. Basically a feral person.

this is basically what kya looks like to everyone else.

This section was a lot. First, Kya starts having a friendly relationship with Jumpin and chases away boys that were throwing rocks at him. They become good friends and on Kya’s birthday, he buys her a cake and some presents. Kya indulges in her presents of a magnifying glass, paint, and some other knickknacks.

after Jumpin stopped talking to Kya as he seemingly disappeared, Kya fell back into her bout of loneliness. She began painting and involving herself in the world around her. Well, not the human world around her.

It was determined that Chase Andrews’s cause of death was falling off the water tower. They also figured out that whoever killed him covered their tracks very well.

So far, two little boys found a popular football star Chase Andrew’s body by the fire tower. There were no footprints next to the body and they had no suspects. Until they remembered Kya.

Kya is known as the marsh girl and is seen as weird because she doesn’t go to town very often and her brother left her with her dad alone. She also is deemed weird because she doesn’t have the right clothes and she lives in the marsh. She is secluded in that area and is different than the others.

Because she is different, she is seen as the main suspect in the Chase of Andrew’s murder. However, there is no evidence that she actually did it.

I think that this book is going to be very interesting. It starts off slow, which isn’t my favorite, but I know that it’s necessary for the plot. The characters in the book are introduced in separate chapters. I don’t think Ive been through the entirety of the characters yet, but I’ve met Jodie and Chase,as well as Kya so far, as well as a chapter of Jodie returning to school after hiding from it. I think I will enjoy this book. I’m not sure the plot of this book seems very plausible.

I predict the main character will be Kya, a known “marsh girl” and the conflict will deal with a murder in the marsh. I predict she will be framed for the murder although she has no connection to it.

The devastation of the nuclear disaster

Midnight in Chernobyl was an easy pick for me. I like longer books, as well as graphic books about history. I feel as though I can connect with the past because of the information I get from books or podcasts. I really enjoy learning about the past.

The Crucible

Mary Warren was strongly motivated by fear. on page 115, she desperately cries out to Abigail for her to stop pretending in the fear that Mary will be accused and hanged. With Proctor pressuring Mary, the difference in social class makes Mary feel less trustworthy, which then leads to more fear, which then leads to Mary Warren eventually going back on what she said and confessing to witchcraft.

On page 76 Abigal shows how her actions are motivated by jealousy. When she falls to the ground after sticking herself with a needle to attempt to frame Elizabeth for witchcraft, it is clear that this has a strong connection to Abigail’s feelings about the affair she had with the proctor and how the proctor distanced himself from her because of his wife.

The proctor showed that he was motivated by love on page 77. When he states “You will not go” when referencing his wife being taken to jail,- he shows his true love for her. He defends Elizabeth with everything he has, not closely listening to any accusations or claims before denying them. He seems frantic when told Elizabeth is being taken to jail for proctor actions and claims.

Reverend Hale was motivated by guilt on page 114. When he states that he believes Proctor that Abigail is lying, he Is saying that to attempt to fix what he had previously done. Reverand Hale was the reason Abigail became so powerful, and the reason witchcraft was taking over Salem. He feels immense guilt for that and therefore tries to reverse his previous actions by countering what he had originally stated.

Changes in the Audience

De las Casas changed the audience by portraying a strong sense of emotion and relaying the true events of the time. Showing the people what was happening brought them a sense of enlightenment and made them seek change in their ways. Red Cloud also changed the audience by using pathos and logos to show the actual events of the time, how they were being treated, and their emotions toward the actions. He stated that they had been cruel to him and his people for undetermined reasons and had started a great massacre of their people. The Europeans took some native Americans in as slaves, while others were forced to do hard labor. Initially, the audience was naive to the things that were happening, but after being brought to life they soon realized their mistake.
